GMIT LEADer Organizes Clothes Bank to Benefit Child Labor Remand Home
GMIT LEADer, Apoorva, conducted a clothes bank at GMIT College. Apoova and Naveen, a fellow LEADer, started collecting old clothes from GMIT College hostels on the weekends. The clothes were donated to a child labor remand home in Davangere. This project sets an example of the positive things that can happen with the proper utilization of resources and giving a helping hands to others.

Project: Essay Competition
Pushpa (GMIT College)
Pushpa conducted an essay competition at her college. One week of rigorous planning and coordination with the college Principal and HOD was required to execute the event. The event attracted seven participants, and each participant was given a memento. Mr. Arun Kumar (Faculty member of EC Department) inaugurated the event and Mrs. Deepashree Ram Mohan gave a brief introduction about LEAD. After the essay competition, the best writers were awarded.
LEAD has helped Pushpa improve and personally develop in many ways. Since joining LEAD, Pushpa's English speaking skills have improved, and she is not involved in various extracurricular activities. For her personal improvements, Pushpa has been awarded the "Best Leader" award.
Pusha says that her participation in LEAD will help her "feel confidence in facing new challenges in the future."

Pushpa dedicated her third project to motivating youth by conducting a LEAD Orientation Program in her college. Pusha coordinated with LEADers Nagaraj and Pooka for execution of the project. The program began by an introduction sessino to LEAD, LEAD Prayana, Yuva Summit, and LEAD Leadership Program by Mrs. Depashree Ram Moham (LEAD Program Manager). Next, Pushpa shared her own LEAD experiences and engaged the students in various leadership development activities. Inspiring videos were then played to motivate the students to join LEAD.
After the program, 10 students joined LEAD and are eager to initiate projects.

Project: Health Awareness Camp
Asha and Akshatha (GMIT)
Asha and Akshatha felt very concerned about health issues in children from slum areas. To create health awareness for slum children, Asha and Akshatha organized and hosted a Health Awareness Camp in Harihar for over 200 children. Dr. Raghavendra Durgoji attended as a guest lecturer and taught the children about basic First Aid, health, hygiene, and emergency health care. Dr. Durgoji's ability made the camp very enjoyable for the children. As a result of the Health Awareness Camp, the children are more health conscious.
The Health Awareness Camp became also became the center of media attraction; details of the camp were published in two different newspapers.

Project: Career Counselling

LEADer
Maithri, a student of GMIT, took on a project to educate orphan
children about career opportunities. She and her team took initiative and
organised a seminar for orphan children .Firstly they selected
students and spoke to them individually and tried to know their
passion. According to their ability and passion she directed them courses and job opportunities to pick up after education. Students were
very happy about LEAD initiative and thanked all.

Project: A Message of Morality Through Books

LEADer Maithri, a student of GMIT, has a passion for reading. She has taken a lead to cultivate the habit of reading to orphan kids. She first made a list of the best books and purchased them. One fine day, she went to the orphanage and distributed the books to students and motivated them to read.Students who never had a taste for reading, now they are showing interest to read such books in coming days. She and her friends are successful in making them understand the value for knowledge. She has taken classes to make them read and understand moral books and distributed freely for further reading.

Project: Health Awareness Camp
LEADer: Anupama
LEADer Anupama, a student of GMIT, conducted her project to raise awareness on health.She briefed about precautions to be taken for HIV, cancer, and typhoid. She also explained about health and hygiene to all orphan girls. The girls clarified about their personal problems and took a lot of health tips. She also threwlight on home remedies to be taken in minor health problems. Nearly 50 girls received benefit from this project. All the girls interacted very nicely as if they are interacting with their own sisters.

Project : Awareness Program on Bursting Firecrackers on Diwali

Santhosh M. V., a student of GMIT, conducted a crackers awareness program at Sidhaganga School in Davangere. Every year in the news many children are met with accidents by bursting crackers. With the help of LEAD Santhosh gave a seminar on a "Noiseless Diwali" and collected 500 signatures from school children to follow it. He also took an oath from students that they will not burst crackers in coming days. Nearly 500 students were benefited by this project. The school management committee thanked all the LEADers and expressed happiness at the end of the event.

Project: Green Diwali in Orphanage

Nagaraj, a student of GMIT College, always wanted to help orphanage students, but he never got support from anybody to keep a step ahead.LEAD encouraged them to celebrate Diwali with orphan kids.He and his co partners visited orphanage played games,distributed sweets and guided them moral thoughts on Diwali.As a symbol of love and memory distributed staionaries to all kids.He also explained about first aid to be taken during accidents.Took promise from students that not to burst crackers.

Project: Idea Presenting Competition

LEADer Shamanth, student of GMIT College,
organized an idea presenting competition in GMIT college, Davangere campus, for
the first time. He gave an opportunity for students to think out of the box.
Five teams actively participated. The students' innovative ideas were very much practical
and creative. The teaching staff appreciated the efforts made by students. LEADer Shamanth was successful in building skills for engineering students. This
project helped the budding engineers to develop soft skills. The GMIT team wishes
many more projects to come up.

Project: Quiz Competition

LEADer of GMIT, Davangere, Prabhu conducted a project on quiz competition to
BBA students of Sir M. Visveswarayya BBA College, Bilagi on 25th October. This
programme motivated the students to overcome their stage fear, to improve
in communication skills, helped them gather knowledge and information (preliminary
preparation), and to face challenges. Students actively participated in three elimination
rounds. Three prizes were given to Ganesh, Ramesh, Vittal as 1st, 2nd and 3rd
rank holders respectively. Students actively showed much interest and they look
forward to attend such events in future.

Project: Plantation

Prabhu, a student of GMIT LEAD cell, Davangere,
conducted a project on plantation
by BBA students of Sir M. Visveswarayya BBA College, Bilagi on 25th October. The
plantation program was inaugurated by the chairman of New CBSC School, Bilagi.
This encouraged the students to know their social responsibility and create
awareness of environmental protection. As a result of this 50+ plants were planted
in Bagalkot. Students exhibited teamwork for forestation and watering them
regularly.

Project: Science Exhibition
LEADer Asha
Location: Challakere
A LEAD student of GMIT, Asha conducted a district-level science exhibition for primary school students in Challakere. In this project, she took initiative to demonstrate science experiments to 40 government school students. This gave a platform for scientific thinking for the students to gain practical knowledge. Sri Nagaraj, a science teacher, helped in the science lab to conduct the experiments. The teacher explained to the students how to do simple experiments with the help of best out of waste. Students were very much impressed with the simple idea and the scientific experiments.This was a typical knowledge exchange program. On behalf of LEAD, leader Asha gifted a FM radio to the school to study the lessons by listening to the radio.
