Belgaum LEADer Heats Water Without Electricity or a Gas Geyser; Helps Hostel Save Rs.1000 Monthly
Posted on Monday, October 28, 2013 by LEAD
Why waste power on a geyser when you can get hot water without one? With this in mind, Belgaum LEADer Santosh Kaveri, also winner of the 2013 Yuva Summit Best Leader Award, has devised an instrument that can provide hot water without using electricity or a gas geyser.
Having
come from a poor, rural background, Santosh has taken advantage of his
LEAD platform to become a social entrepreneur by developing low-cost
technologies that save people money. His previous project, Carrot
Cleaning Machine, is now being used by hundreds of farmers throughout 10
villages.
Santosh's instrument has been installed in his college hostel and is helping the hostel reduce costs by more than Rs. 1000 per month. Santosh has plans to expand this project on a larger scale. He wants to implement this instrument throughout other hostels and homes.
