LEadership camp at Sri Shakti Institute of Engineering and Technology College, Coimbatore

On a very bright morning many students of first year from Sri Shakti Institute of Engineering and Technology College, gathered for the camp of Leadership Program. LEAD camp was held on 27th & 28th of August, 2014 which was successfully organised by 9 coordinators Lalithaa, Suguna, Maheshwaran, Yohendra.R, Saravanakumar.S, Saravanakumar, Subapriya, Mahesh and Vignesh who attended the LEAD Leadership Program at Hubli in July-2014.

First day of the camp Students had the activity of self introduction over the wall. Students had to take the news paper cut outs in order to describe them and introduce themselves to others. Excitement in the students had just begun; the students quickly took over the activity and completed the given task.
Saravanakumar S shared his experience
about LEAD Leadership Program that he had attended in the month of July for 10
days at Hubli. Participants were keenly listening to him and were amazed.
The next session was taken by the
Functional Head of LEAD, Mr. Ajay Suman Shukla through Skype where he oriented
the students about the LEAD Program and how the students will be benefited by
it. Most of the students were thrilled listening to him and student’s minds
were broadly open to the world of LEAD. Students were interested to know more
and more about LEAD.
The camp was then followed with the
debate on the topic Love v/s Friendship which was led by Maheshwaran M. The main
motive was to make everyone involve in the debate so that they could open up
and speak well in order to come out of the fear. Many of them actively
participated and in between we brought a sudden twist in the debate. We
interchanged the topics between the teams so that the students should be ready
to speak at any point of time. Lot of valuable points was discussed. 
The energy level was high, the fear
factor was set aside amongst the students and it was the right time to involve
students in the ongoing social issues. 54 students were divided into 6 groups
with 9 members in a team. The students were given 15 minutes time to prepare
the skit on College life, Road safety and Gender Discrimination. Two groups
performed on each topic, students realized the issues in the present world by
the skits that were performed.
The day concluded with the reflection wall where the students had to write their learning and feedback. The wall was filled with positive feedback some of them were; Thank you for introducing LEAD to us, nice sessions, wonderful experience and so on…
The theme for the next day was “TWINS DAY” all the people were in pairs (wearing same dresses). It was very pleasant to see them. All the 54 students were present for the camp.
First session was taken by Suba Priya,
Saravanakumar S, Yohendra R, on Creativity module. Power point presentation and
videos on creativity was shown to them. Students were said to prepare 10
products. Students designed flower pots, painted the tiles and stones, toran(Door
Hangings)etc
After
the lunch break students were taken to the ground and conducted Team Building
activities to them like queen of sheeba, birthday line ups, clustering into
groups on the basis of activity they were taught the leadership qualities like
team work, initiative, discipline, time management, opportunities etc.
The success of the camp was
celebrated with the gathering and experience sharing.
Many of them gave a positive feedback
and promised to actively participate in the forth coming events.
Organising LEaders are overwhelmed with the success of the event, they are very thankful to SSIT College for introducing LEAD, and grateful to Deshpande Foundation and LEAD Team for turning them from normal students to the energetic LEaders.
