Project: LiveSmart
LEAD Project Award Winner - Dharwad Region 2012
LEADers Naveen S. B. and Naveen J. joined LEAD Cell of SKSVMACET, Laxmeshwar in February 2012. Inspired by existing LEADers’ projects in LEAD and by his passion of doing something helpful for the rural people, Naveen S. B. came up with the idea to solve the unemployment problem. It does not seem easy to work on this big problem of so he formed a team of Naveen J., Veeru, Kedar, Ashwani and Maruti from his college and named it “Live Smart”.
Very professionally they started their work by distributing
the responsibilities among the team. They made a format of collecting the
information from the people about their job preferences, eligibility and needs.
They visited around one dozen villages of Kundagol, Shirahatti and Laxmeshwar
Tallukas and collected information from the people who have knowledge
and skills but lack the opportunity to get jobs.
The team approached companies like VRL Private Ltd. Hubli, SPICER Pvt Ltd. Dharwad, TATA
MARCOPOLO Dharwad, KSSCA Haveri, Vasivi medical stores Bagalkot, KNNL Dharwad, Basaveshwar
Education Institute Dharwad and Sankeshwar Printers, Gadag to get their job
requirements. After getting the details f they matched candidate profiles with
company needs and started sending them for interview. Within a period of one
month five people have got jobs, 4 in KSSCA Haveri and 1 in a petrol pump in
Badami.

Project: Computer Class and Exam

Location: Government Engineering College Haveri
Shivakumara wanted to create interest in computer education amoung students. He obtained permission from the college administration to conduct computer classes to high school students and placed notices in the high school for interested students to register. 40 students actively participated in the computer class and took the exam Shivakumara conducted.
