LEAD Valedictory 2015 at Hubli

Students of LEAD in blue t-shirt crowded the lobby of Deshpande Foundation. Chart exhibition, conversation and exchange of ideas filled the air before the LEAD Valedictory 2015 began in the auditorium of Deshpande Foundation.
 

In the academic year of 2014-15, LEADers Accelerating Development Program of Deshpande Foundation has touched lives of 5 lakh people in the region of Hubli- Dharwad with 600 LEAD members and 596 impacting  projects. LEAD Valedictory was thus celebrated to commemorate the hard work, innovation and dedication of the young leaders.
 

More than 300 LEADers, more than 13 faculties and students were the highlights of LEAD Valedictory.  Guest of Honor of the Valedictory  Ceremony were Prof. G. V Parishwad, Director, Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli; Mr. Prakash Prabhu, Chief Administrator, Sri V R Deshpande Memorial Trust, Haliyal; Dr. S. Shibu, Karnataka Ecosystem Projects Head Agastya; Mr. C. U. Bellakki, Programme Chief, AIR, Dharwad; Dr. R. S. Poddar, Head, Project Planning and Monitoring cell, UAS, Dharwad; Dr. S. V. Gorabal, Principal, SKSVMACET, Lakshmeshwar; Prof. Parvati, SDMCET, Dharwad; Dr. Basvaraj Anami, Principal, KLEIT, Hubli.
 

The day began with the students visiting the stall exhibition. Charts depicting the story of the project and its impact on the society was exhibited. Leaders explained the projects to visitors with great enthusiasm. People visiting the stalls were highly impressed by the hard work of students.

The faculties from various colleges of Hubli Dharwad had gathered for LEAD Valedictory. They visited the stalls of students and engaged themselves in round table discussion on the impact of LEAD on college students. They also reflected their thoughts upon the future strategies they could employ to promote the similar initiatives in support with LEAD in  their colleges. The  session was meaningful. It was facilitated by Vivek Pawar and Ajay Suman Shukla. 
 
The function began with mourning for the lost lives of our Nepali brothers and sisters. Then it went ahead with invoking the blessings of the almighty by an invocation song on Lord Ganesh and watering the plants. Watering the plants was done with an intention to remind everyone the importance of planting saplings and taking care of greenery around us.


Later the few LEADers of LEAD shared their experience at LEAD and their story of LEADership. LEADer Vedanti. LEADer Sushanth and LEADer Ravi shared their story. 

18 LEADership Awards were given to energetic deserving LEADers and Colleges which have been supporting LEAD.


Uniqueness of LEAD Valedictory function along with dignitaries a simple woman, Shankaramma was felicitated. She has been working as a gardener at BVBCET, Hubli and supporting her family since 7 years. Before to BVBCET, she was working at road construction and at farms.  


The chief guest addressed the gathering and Dr. R. S. Poddar congratulated the leaders and advised them to use themselves in transformation of the country. He said that technology has advanced and made great progress and main challenge lies in social transformation using technology. He suggested everyone to make best use of it and come up in life.


Mr. C. U. Bellakki enlightened the students the importance of leaders and told them that the moment is lack of leaders. He told his everything is available in the society but it lacks LEADers. He stressed upon the importance of  communication. He suggested students to participate in media and bring themselves forward.”

Dr. S. Shibu told students to become leaders and transform India. He reflected his thoughts about unity in India and to hope for better country.





The LEADer Valedictory concluded with National anthem and lunch by Akshaya Patra Kitchen. Students dispersed joyfully for having completed an eventful year at LEAD and with great hopes of becoming greater and better LEADers in the upcoming year.
