Davangere LEADer Helps 200 Animals Receive Medical Attention
Many efforts are being taken to help and improve the lives of people. But what about the animals? They usually get left behind. LEADer Umesh from the MSW Department at Davangere University. He coordinated with local veterinary doctors to hold an veterinary camp. Over 200 animals were received treatment. In addition, the animal's diseases were assessed and reported to the District Animal Husbandry Department.

Davangere LEADer Fundraises and Creates Awareness for Disabled Children
After going on a field visit, LEADer Kiran from MSW Department, Davangere University, felt especially touched by disabled children, and worried about their condition. He decided to help them. After coordinating with the ADP Organization and getting permission from his Department HOD, he raised funds from students at his college and the public. After completing his project, Kiran improved his convincing and his persuasion skills. He also felt proud about helping and creating awareness for the disabled children.

General Health Camp in Thurchagatha Benefits 120 People
LEADer Imran Basha wanted to improve the health of the people in his community of Thurchagatha. After getting permission from his HOD and the District Health Officer, Imran coordinated a general health camp. 120 people attended the health camp and over 20 people were received health check ups at a local hospital. Imran feels very proud after completing his project because he was able to personally overcome fear, hesitation, all while gaining experiencing in event planning and helping society.

LEADer Helps 15 Women Gain Employment
Kiran from MSW Department, Davangere University, recognized women as important players in breaking the cycle of poverty. More importantly, he wanted to empower women by making them independent. Kiran coordinated with Sri Lakshmi Ranganath Swamy Mahila Mattu Graminabhirudhi Samsthe and provided free vocational training for 25 women. While convincing the women to participate in the training was a difficult task, this project allowed Kiran to practice and improve upon his communication, time management, and persuasion skills, which ultimately enabled him to persuade the women. The vocational training organized by Kiran helped 15 women gain employment.

Lake Cleaning Project Improves Soil Conditions for 150 Farmers
Prasanna from MSW Department, Davangere University, wanted to improve his surrounding environment while simultaneously helping people in his community. There was a lake in his community that desperately needed cleaning. Prasanna approached members of the Gram Panchayath and members of his community to start working.

Prasanna faced many challenges convincing people, acquiring the required equipment (such as tractors for cleaning), and managing people throughout his project. However, Prasanna's energy and perseverance made his project successful. The lake is now clean, and the soil surrounding the lake now yields better crops. Over 150 farmers benefitted from Prasanna's project.

observed that many of the villagers suffer from illnesses. So, he took
initiative to solve their problem. He collaborated with a government hospital. In
this camp more than 150 villagers participated & got benefit.

Project: Sanitation Construction
Shivakumar (Davangere University)
Two villages lacked toilets. Upon noticing this problem, Shivakumar took initiative and applied to the Gram Panchayat to permit the construction of toilets in the village. Shivakumar successfully secured approval from both the government and the Gram Panchayat, and 48 toilets were constructed throughout the two villages, thereby immensely helping the sanitation efforts of these villages.

Project: Training on Tailoring

Kiran Yadav saw in the village that many of
the women were wasting their time and that they were not getting any work to
do. So, he approached an NGO for free tailoring training and they agreed to
come. He also discussed with the women and successfully gave a one week
training to all the village women.

Project: Providing Wheelchair to Physically Challenged Person

Imran Ali, a LEADer from Davangere University, observed the problems of the physically challenged people in Harihar. One physically challenged person is poor and is not able to buy a wheelchair. So, this LEAD student took initiative and raised funds from local people. He also contributed to this and bought the wheelchair.

observed that many of the villagers did not know about government facilities. So, he took initiative to support the villagers. He collaborated with an agriculture office and brought coconut trees to plant in a former field.

Project: Inchara

Inchara is a 3-day residential workshop for deaf and dumb people, executed on 5th Dec to 8th Dec in Belavanur in coordination with the Association of People with Disability. It mainly focused on sign language, advocacy, hidden creativity among them, ill effects of tobacco consummation and cancer, adolescent health, insight about government schemes, and disabled rights. In this camp more than 200 students participated and were benefitted.
