On August 31st, 2013, over 700 energized students filled the seats, aisles, and doorways of the Silver Jubilee Auditorium at GIT College for the inauguration ceremony of the long-awaited LEAD Exodus 2013.

With the tagline “Provoked minds leading towards humanity”, LEAD Exodus was a landmark function organized by GIT Belgaum LEADers to benefit Sapndana Nandana Makkala Dhama and Jesus Care Old Age Home, and also to give their fellow students a platform to showcase their talents while instilling enthusiasm for leadership and social awareness.

For two days, LEAD Exodus took over the GIT campus and attracted more than 1000 students and over 450 participants from different colleges of Belgaum, Chikodi, Nidasoshi, and Raibag.  The two-day program  consisted of competitive events that featured student, faculty, and guest judges. One of the most celebrated events of Exodus was the inauguration of the GIT LEAD Cell.  The GIT LEAD Cell was inaugurated by Vivek Pawar (Founder and CEO, Sankalp Semiconductor), Medha Pawar (Advocate), and Ajay Suman Shukla (Functional Head, LEAD).

Enthusiasm in LEAD Exodus remained high from beginning to end.  On September 1st, the Silver Jubliee Auditorium was crowded with over 500 people who had gathered for the Exodus Valedictory, during which the competition winners as well as the overall impact of the event were announced.  The Exodus Valedictory ceremony featured Guests of Honor Vivek Pawar and Medha Pawar.  Prior to announcing the competition winners and handing out the awards, Vivek inspired the audience as he spoke about the importance of working for society and leadership.   He told the students, “Every one of us has a greatness inside, the question is how you make it bigger by taking that first step towards working towards society.”

A grand total of Rs. 62,900 was raised from LEAD Exodus.  Through passion, leadership, and teamwork, LEADers accomplished what few of their peers have done before, and converted their big idea into a major event that enlivened multiple college communities to come together for a cause.
