LEAD Valedictory 2015 at Vijayapur

LEAD, the powerhouse of innovation and creativity celebrated Valedictory Ceremony at Vijayapur on 30th March 2015. LEAD Program in the academic year of 2014-15 had got 500 members who had completed 170 LEADership projects and touched lives of 2.5 lakh in the towns of Vijayapur, Jhamkhandi, Talikot and Bagalkot.

 The celebration to commemorate the hard work, innovation and achievement of young leaders in this particular year was conducted at PGHCET College, Vijayapur. The Guest of honour for this ceremony were Dr. B. G. Mulimani, Vice Chancellor, BLDE University, Vijayapur; Dr. S. B. Devaranadagi, Dean, College of Agriculture, Vijayapur; Dr. V. P. Huggi, Principal of BLDEA’s PGHCET, Vijayapur; Mr. Mayur Biradar, Founder and MD, Shivagiri Cement Works; Mr. Ajay Suman Shukla, Team Leader, LEAD, Deshpande Foundation; Mr. Vikram Tarase, Founder and Managing Partner, Ministry of Motor Sports and Racing Academy.

The agenda of the ceremony was Inauguration of 50 innovative Leadership projects/Models exhibition, Leadership story sharing, Awards and appreciation to the best students and faculties of the year.
Vice Chancellor was impressed by the contribution of LEADers to the society. During his speech, he said “I am inspired by the work of LEADers and their selfless contribution to the society” He also said “Everyone must develop the habit of giving back to the society; these students have realized it at a very young age”.

Ajay, the Team Leader of LEAD shared his thoughts and said “Leadership is important in each and every context and LEAD program is building Leaders in the context of Entrepreneurship within college campus.”

Vikram and Mayur spoke about their journey and challenges as Entrepreneurs. They motivated the leaders to think out of box and to be passionate about their dreams. 

13 Awards were given to young LEADers for exhibiting their leadership skills in various domains. 

Uniqueness of this Valedictory Ceremony was, unlike ceremonies where dignitaries are appreciated, in this valedictory ceremony, Shailashree Jalawadagi, a simple woman who has been working as a cook at a temple and supporting her family was felicitated and honored.   She even spoke about the adversities she faced while working.

The curtains were drawn on the Valedictory function with fun and frolic. Spirit of LEADership and achievement were high and students dispersed to with hopes of working for the betterment of the society and further developing their leadership skills.
