LEADer says" As a part of LEAD, Deshpande Foundation, we, the Oxford and IBMR College students had conducted Art Competition in Rotary Deaf and Dumb School on 30/09/09 and prize distribution was held on 02/10/09.
The main objective of conducting the art competition was to bring out the hidden talents in the students who didn't have the opportunity to explore their talents on any platform and to create competitive spirit among the handicapped students.

Many of the students participated and they were altogether 54 students. Among them some of the students were unable to grasp what exactly they are supposed to do in the event. The LEADers made few drawings on the board to make them understand that they are going to take part in the art competition. All the students with their own interest and great enthusiasm participated in the competition and had done their best. The children and staff members were given chocolates during the event. The way of communication between the teachers and the children was a very new experience for the LEADers. Though there was good convey of message among each other.
One hour was alloted to them to make their drawings. It was incredible to see the children a bit away from the normal strain pouring their imagination on the papers. It was tough for the judges to pick the best talent.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti ( 2nd October), the chairman of the school Dr. S.S. Hiremath was the guest of honour. He gave away great knowledge about the great leader Mahatma Gandhi. It worked as a good tool of motivation for the LEADers. The prize distribution was held on the same day. Best 3 drawings were selected from 7th, 5th and 2nd standerd students. Other 3 drawings were awarded as master pieces and all the students were given appreciation certificates.

The LEADer says " It was a great experience and our 1st project achieved a good success. We didn't know that we had that potential to make this event a successful one. We, the LEADers would like to thank Deshpande Foundation for giving us such an opportunity to do this event and encouraging our youth of India who can really be the great LEADers of India to come up with their talents. We thank you for all your support and guidance. The fellows of the team are Pooja chavan, Nandini Channashetti, Naina Jotuani, Manjunath Cholin, Sanjay Bedare and Chetan.
