This is where
LEAD stands now exactly a year and a half since its birth . LEAD is now proud to sing the glory of all those changes brought about by the LEADers in this part of Karnataka. Last year the number of projects were nearly 200 limiting to Hubli/Dharwad region. Increasing popularity of LEAD amongst students is taking it higher every new season . Its path breaking success has taken it to other districts such as Bijapur, Belgaum, Sirsi, Hospet, Coorg, Gadag along with Hubli/dharwad.




LEAD Mela is the biggest event of LEAD organized every year in January scheduled with "Development Dialogue" where the best performing LEADers are awarded. Representatives of more than 100 NGOs participate in "Development Dialogue" which is meant for trade of innovative, developmental and revolutionary ideas and practices from across the world to which Deshpande Foundation stands as a support.

Among 600 projects, 200 competitive projects were selected by the LEAD program managers and the LAEDers were offered to put their achievements on display in stalls(Mela). Each LEADer was provided with a stall and was visited by more than 100 delegates from across the world. All the stalls were divided into 9 pavilions based on the places they belonged to. The registration was open between 9:00am and 11.00am followed by decorations of respective stalls by the LEADers with the stationary facilitated by the Foundation.

The delegates visiting had a great know-how on how the student LEADers worked on several projects mobilising the available resources and how the local forces were put in action.

The exhibition was formally inaugurated by Gururaj Deshpande and Jayashree Deshpande at 2.30pm which was then open for visitors. Gururaj and jayashree Deshpande visited each and every stall personally and interacted with LEADers and encouraged students to take up more such change making initiatives. The award ceremony started at 4.30pm, the dias presided by eminent dignitaries, the guest of honor being IPS of Dharwad district commissionerate Mr. Raghavendra Auradkar. The 25 best projects were awarded by other dignitaries; , Mr & Mrs Gururaj Deshpande, Mr Nishit Acharya(Director, Deshpande Foundation), Mr Naveen Jha(Director, DCSE)and Anand Shankeshwar (VRL Logistics).
